For the immune system & defenses
Would you like to do something good for your horses, especially in the dark and wet winter season? Even if your horses regularly graze, the diet for our domestic horses is automatically somewhat different in winter than in summer. Your horses can no longer fully eat the bark of young branches and absorb their valuable nutrients. Wild horses, as they used to be much more common, had roots and twigs on their menu in addition to grass, regardless of the season. Willow bark has always been particularly popular with horses.
If you want to support your horse, especially in winter, then it makes sense to offer supplementary feed, such as willow bark, in addition to the daily feed. Our AniForte® willow bark is a purely natural product for horses, which is made from silver willow (Salix alba) by drying the bark and then cutting it. As a purely natural feed supplement, willow bark can be fed to your horse regularly to support the musculoskeletal system, joints and improve agility. But what exactly is the effect of willow bark for horses?
Would you like to do something good for your horse and support its joints, immune system and resistance? Then willow bark for horses is just the thing for you. As a natural straight feedstuff, willow bark for horses can be fed quite easily. On the one hand prophylactically, but also when your horses need acute help. Even in ancient times, willow bark was fed to horses when they suffered from ailments such as fever, pain or inflammation. Pain and inflammation are common symptoms of joint problems in horses. Joint diseases are among the most common causes of lameness in horses. In addition, studies on animals have shown that willow bark has a positive effect on oxidative stress and can support the animal's immune system.
It is particularly important to note that willow bark is remarkably effective for horses when mainly the bark is fed rather than whole sections of the pasture. This is because it has been proven that the most effective ingredients of willow bark are found in the bark of the wood.
A particularly common ingredient in willow bark for horses, which is known for its effect, is the glucoside salicin, which belongs to the phenol group of plant substances. By inhibiting the formation of tissue hormones, salicin has an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-rheumatic effect. Our AniForte® willow bark for horses contains native salicin, which is made bioavailable in the lower sections of the intestine during the digestive process and converted into salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is the precursor of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), the main active ingredient in aspirin. In order for the willow bark and the active ingredients it contains to develop their full effect, you should definitely feed the willow bark for horses over a longer period of time.
In order to achieve maximum effectiveness and offer your horses the best, we only use selected natural raw materials for all our products. As a natural product, our willow bark for horses consists exclusively of cut willow bark.
As with any feed, you should stick to the correct dosage of willow bark for horses. Horses and ponies can be fed 6 g of willow bark per 100 kg of weight per day. Depending on how heavy your horse is, you can easily calculate the daily requirement yourself. For your orientation: 40 ml in the measuring cup corresponds to 6 g willow bark. To feed the AniForte® willow bark for horses, it is best to pour hot water over it a quarter of an hour before you want to feed it, stir vigorously and then leave to infuse. Once the willow bark has steeped enough, you can add it to the normal feed.
